A CEO STORY - LISA LOST HER CV
The morning
sun was shining brightly over Kajarta, one of the busiest cities in the
country. (Matahari
Kajarta
was known for its tall buildings, crowded streets, and large companies. Among
them stood one of the biggest and most prestigious companies in the city: Farizi
Corporation.
Corporation.)
That morning,
a young woman named Lisha was walking toward the company. (Pagi itu, seorang
gadis muda bernama Lisha sedang berjalan menuju perusahaan tersebut.) She
was wearing a neat blouse and carrying a folder tightly in her hands. (Ia mengenakan
Inside
the folder was something very important. (Di dalam map itu terdapat sesuatu yang
sangat penting.) Her CV. (CV miliknya.)
Today was the
day she had been waiting for. She
was going to submit her job application to Farizi Corporation. (Ia akan
menyerahkan lamaran pekerjaannya ke Farizi Corporation.) "Please,
let everything go well today," Lisha whispered to herself. ("Semoga
She took a
deep breath and continued walking. (Ia menarik napas dalam-dalam dan melanjutkan
langkahnya.) But she didn't notice that someone was walking quickly
behind her.
belakangnya.) The man was wearing a simple jacket, a cap, and a
large delivery bag on his back. He looked exactly like a delivery worker who
was in a hurry.
Ia benar-benar terlihat seperti seorang
pengantar paket yang sedang terburu-buru.) He was also carrying
several documents in one hand.
tangannya.)
Suddenly— (Tiba-tiba—)
BUMP!
The man
accidentally bumped into Lisha from behind. (Pria itu tidak sengaja menabrak Lisha
dari belakang.) "Oh!" Lisha almost lost her balance. ("Oh!"
Lisha hampir kehilangan keseimbangannya.) Her folder fell from her
hands. (Map
yang dibawanya terjatuh dari tangannya.) Papers flew everywhere. (Berkas-berkas
berserakan ke segala arah.) At the same time, the documents the man
had been carrying in his hand also fell onto the ground.
tanah.) "Ah! My documents!" ("Ah! Berkas-berkasku!")
The mysterious
man immediately stopped. (Pria misterius itu segera berhenti.) "I'm
so sorry!" he said. "I didn't mean to bump into you." ("Maaf
sekali!" katanya. "Aku tidak bermaksud menabrakmu.") Lisha
looked at the papers scattered across the sidewalk. (Lisha melihat berkas-berkas yang
berserakan di sepanjang trotoar.) "It's okay. I'm fine." ("Tidak
apa-apa. Aku baik-baik saja.")
She quickly
knelt down and started collecting her documents. (Ia segera berjongkok dan mulai
mengumpulkan berkas-berkasnya.) The man also helped her. (Pria itu juga
membantunya.) "I'm really sorry," he repeated. ("Aku
benar-benar minta maaf," ulangnya.) "It's okay,"
Lisha said with a small smile. "Let's just pick them up." ("Tidak
apa-apa," kata Lisha sambil tersenyum kecil. "Ayo kita kumpulkan
saja.")
As they
collected the papers, Lisha noticed that the man had many documents of his own.
memiliki banyak berkas miliknya sendiri.) "Wait... you have a
lot of papers too." ("Tunggu... kamu juga membawa banyak berkas.") The
man looked surprised. (Pria itu tampak terkejut.) "Yes. I was
actually carrying these documents to the office." ("Ya.
"Then
let's collect yours too," Lisha said. ("Kalau begitu, mari kita
kumpulkan berkasmu juga," kata Lisha.) Before the man could
answer, Lisha began helping him collect his papers. (Sebelum pria itu sempat menjawab,
Lisha mulai membantunya mengumpulkan berkas-berkas miliknya.)
The man looked
at her for a moment. (Pria itu menatapnya sejenak.) She had every
reason to be angry. (Sebenarnya Lisha punya alasan untuk marah.) Instead,
she was helping him. (Namun, ia justru membantunya.) "Thank
you," he said quietly. ("Terima kasih," katanya pelan.) "No
problem." ("Tidak masalah.") After a few minutes, they finally
collected all the papers.(Setelah beberapa menit, akhirnya mereka mengumpulkan semua
berkas tersebut.)
Lisha stood up
and checked her folder. (Lisha berdiri dan memeriksa mapnya.) "Okay...
I think everything is here." ("Oke... sepertinya semuanya sudah ada di
sini.") The mysterious man also checked his documents. (Pria misterius
itu juga memeriksa berkas-berkasnya.) "Mine too." ("Punyaku
juga.")
They looked at
each other. (Mereka saling memandang.) "I'm sorry again," he
said. ("Sekali
lagi, aku minta maaf," katanya.) Lisha smiled. (Lisha tersenyum.)
"It's okay. Have a nice day." ("Tidak apa-apa. Semoga harimu
menyenangkan.") "You too." ("Kamu juga.") They
walked in different directions. (Mereka berjalan ke arah yang berbeda.)
A Few
Minutes Later (Beberapa Menit Kemudian)
Lisha arrived
at Farizi Corporation. (Lisha tiba di Farizi Corporation.) She walked
into the reception area and looked at the enormous company logo on the wall.
FARIZI
CORPORATION
She smiled
nervously. (Ia tersenyum gugup.) "This is it." ("Ini
dia.") She opened her folder. (Ia membuka mapnya.) Her
eyes suddenly widened. (Matanya tiba-tiba membelalak.) "Wait..."
("Tunggu...")
She checked the documents again. (Ia memeriksa berkas-berkasnya lagi.)
Once. Twice. Three
times. "My CV!"
(Sekali. Dua kali.
Tiga kali. "CV-ku!")
Lisha's face
turned pale. (Wajah Lisha menjadi pucat.) "No, no, no..." ("Tidak,
tidak, tidak...") She searched through every document. (Ia mencari di
antara semua berkas.) Nothing. (Tidak ada.) Her CV was
missing. (CV-nya
hilang.) "It must have been mixed up when we picked up the
papers." ("Pasti tertukar ketika kami mengumpulkan berkas-berkas tadi.") She
immediately remembered the mysterious man. (Ia langsung teringat pada pria
misterius tadi.)
"Oh
no!" ("Oh tidak!") She looked toward the entrance. (Ia melihat ke
arah pintu masuk.) But the man was already gone. (Namun, pria itu
sudah pergi.) Lisha was beginning to panic when someone approached
her. (Lisha
mulai panik ketika seseorang menghampirinya.)
"Excuse
me. Are you Wilujeng Lishawati?" ("Permisi. Apakah Anda Wilujeng Lishawati?")
Lisha turned around. (Lisha berbalik.) "Yes." ("Ya.") The
woman was wearing a formal suit and carrying a tablet. (Wanita itu
mengenakan pakaian formal dan membawa sebuah tablet.) "I am the
HR manager. Please come with me." ("Saya manajer HRD. Silakan ikut
dengan saya.") Lisha blinked. (Lisha berkedip.) "Excuse
me?" ("Maaf?") "Congratulations." ("Selamat.")
"Congratulations?" ("Selamat?") The
HR manager smiled. (Manajer HRD itu tersenyum.) "Yes. You have
been accepted." ("Ya. Anda telah diterima.")
Lisha stood
completely still. (Lisha berdiri terpaku.) "Accepted?" ("Diterima?")
"Yes. We have reviewed your application."
("Ya. Kami
telah meninjau lamaran Anda.") "But..." ("Tapi...")
Lisha was confused. (Lisha kebingungan.) "My CV is
missing." ("CV saya hilang.") The HR manager smiled. (Manajer HRD itu
tersenyum.) "Don't worry about that. We have already read
it." ("Jangan khawatir tentang itu. Kami sudah membacanya.") Lisha's
eyes widened. (Mata Lisha membelalak.) "You have?" ("Anda sudah
membacanya?") "Yes. Mr. Al Farizi personally reviewed
it." ("Ya. Bapak Al Farizi sendiri yang meninjaunya.") "Mr.
Al Farizi?" ("Bapak Al Farizi?") The HR manager nodded. (Manajer HRD itu
mengangguk.) "Our CEO." ("CEO kami.")
Lisha's heart
skipped a beat. (Jantung Lisha serasa berhenti berdetak sejenak.) "The CEO
read my CV?" ("CEO membaca CV saya?") "Yes. And
he was very interested in your qualifications." ("Ya. Dan beliau sangat
tertarik dengan kualifikasi Anda.")
Lisha couldn't
believe what she was hearing.
She had come to submit her application. (Ia datang untuk menyerahkan
lamarannya.) She had accidentally lost her CV. (Ia tidak sengaja
kehilangan CV-nya.) And somehow... (Namun entah bagaimana...) She
had already been accepted. (Ia sudah diterima.)
"Thank
you!" Lisha said happily. ("Terima kasih!" kata Lisha dengan gembira.)
She couldn't stop smiling. (Ia tidak bisa berhenti tersenyum.) But
there was still one question in her mind. (Namun, masih ada satu pertanyaan di
dalam pikirannya.) How did the CEO get her CV? (Bagaimana CEO itu
mendapatkan CV-nya?)
Meanwhile,
just a few moments earlier... (Sementara itu, hanya beberapa saat sebelumnya...)
On the top
floor of Farizi Corporation, a man entered a large office. (Di lantai paling
atas Farizi Corporation, seorang pria memasuki sebuah ruangan kantor yang
besar.) The delivery bag was placed on a chair. (Tas pengantar
paket itu diletakkan di sebuah kursi.) He placed his documents on
the desk, then took off his cap and jacket. (Ia meletakkan berkas-berkasnya di atas
meja, lalu melepas topi dan jaketnya.) A secretary entered the room.
(Seorang
sekretaris memasuki ruangan.) "Good morning, Mr. Farizi." ("Selamat
pagi, Pak Farizi.") The man nodded. (Pria itu mengangguk.) "Good
morning." ("Selamat pagi.")
He sat behind
a large desk. (Ia duduk di balik sebuah meja besar.) (His name was Al
Farizi. (Namanya adalah Al Farizi.) The CEO of Farizi Corporation. (CEO Farizi
Corporation.) He picked up a document from the desk. (Ia mengambil
sebuah dokumen dari atas meja.) It was Lisha's CV. (Itu adalah CV
milik Lisha.) He looked at it again. (Ia kembali melihat CV tersebut.) A
small smile appeared on his face. (Senyum tipis muncul di wajahnya.)
"So..."
("Jadi...")
He remembered the young woman from the street. (Ia teringat pada
gadis muda yang ditemuinya di jalan tadi.) The girl who had helped
him collect his documents. (Gadis yang telah membantunya mengumpulkan berkas-berkasnya.)
The girl who had been more concerned about his papers than her own. (Gadis yang justru
lebih mengkhawatirkan berkas miliknya daripada berkasnya sendiri.) Al
Farizi looked at the CV carefully. (Al Farizi memperhatikan CV itu dengan saksama.) "Interesting."
("Menarik.")
He put the CV on his desk. (Ia meletakkan CV tersebut di atas mejanya.) Then
he leaned back in his chair. (Kemudian ia menyandarkan tubuhnya di kursi.) "Let's
see what you can do, Lisha." ("Mari kita lihat apa yang bisa kamu lakukan,
Lisha.")
And somewhere downstairs, Lisha was still wondering... Who was that mysterious man she had met that morning? She had no idea that she had already met the CEO of the company. And she certainly didn't know... (Dan ia tentu saja tidak tahu...) That their accidental meeting was only the beginning.

CURRICULUM VITAE
Writing a Simple CV
Learning Objectives
After completing this chapter, students are expected to be able to:
- understand the purpose of a Curriculum Vitae.
- identify the important parts of a CV.
- understand common vocabulary used in a CV.
- describe their education, skills, experience, and achievements.
- write a simple Curriculum Vitae in English.
A. What Is a Curriculum Vitae?
A Curriculum Vitae, commonly called a CV, is a document that provides information about a person's background, education, skills, experience, achievements, and other qualifications.
In simple words, a CV tells other people:
"Who are you, what can you do, and what have you achieved?"
A CV is commonly used when someone applies for:
- a job
- an internship
- an apprenticeship
- a scholarship
- an organization or program
For vocational high school students, a CV can be useful when applying for PKL, internships, part-time jobs, competitions, scholarships, or future employment.
B. Why Is a CV Important?
Imagine that a company receives applications from many students.
The company does not have enough time to talk to every applicant one by one.
So, what can they look at first?
Your CV.
A good CV helps the recruiter understand your background quickly.
A CV should be:
Clear + Relevant + Honest + Well Organized
Remember:
A CV does not need to be long. It needs to be useful.
C. Parts of a CV
A simple CV usually contains several important sections.
1. Personal Information
This section contains basic information about you.
Examples:
- Full name
- Phone number
- Email address
- Address
- Date of birth
Example:
PERSONAL INFORMATION
Full Name: Ahmad Kardjono

Useful Expressions
My full name is...
My phone number is...
My email address is...

2. Personal Profile

For example:
Personal Profile
I am a responsible and hardworking tenth-grade student majoring in Computer and Network Engineering. I am interested in computer technology and enjoy learning new skills. I am able to work independently and as part of a team.
A short paragraph of 2–4 sentences is usually enough for a student CV.
3. Education
This section tells the reader about your educational background.
Example:
EDUCATION
2025–Present
SMKN 1 Mandiratu
Computer and Network Engineering
2022–2025
SMP Harapan Bersama
Kajarta
Useful Vocabulary

H. Common Mistakes
1. "I am graduated from..."
❌ I am graduated from SMK Nusantara.
✔ I graduated from SMK Nusantara.
✔ I am a student at SMK Nusantara.
Why?
2. "My skill is..."
Jika memiliki lebih dari satu keterampilan:
❌ My skill are communication and teamwork.
✔ My skills are communication and teamwork.
Jika hanya satu:
✔ My skill is graphic design.
3. "I am good in..."
❌ I am good in Microsoft Excel.
✔ I am good at Microsoft Excel.
Good at digunakan untuk menunjukkan kemampuan.
4. "I have experience as..."
Kalimat ini benar.
✔ I have experience as a class representative.
Namun, jika ingin menekankan pengalaman melakukan sesuatu:
✔ I have experience organizing school events.
5. "I can able to..."
❌ I can able to work in a team.
✔ I can work in a team.
✔ I am able to work in a team.
Jangan menggunakan can dan able to sekaligus.
I. Important Tips
Before submitting your CV, check these things:
✔ Is your information correct?
✔ Is your email address professional?
✔ Are there any spelling mistakes?
✔ Is the CV easy to read?
✔ Are your skills relevant?
✔ Are all your qualifications honest?
And one very important rule:
Never put false information on your CV.
A CV is not a place to make yourself look perfect.
It is a place to show who you are, what you can do, and what you are ready to learn.
J. Let's Practice!
Create Your Own CV
Now it's your turn!
Create a simple one-page Curriculum Vitae in English.
Your CV must contain:
- Personal Information
- Personal Profile
- Education
- Skills
- Experience
- Achievements
- Hobbies & Interests
Challenge: Imagine that you are going to apply for a SUPERVISOR position related to your major.
Make your CV relevant to the position you are applying for.
Remember:
Don't try to make your CV look impressive by adding things you have never done.
Instead, show your real abilities and experiences as clearly as possible.
Your CV is your first introduction before you even say, "Hello."
